4. Start Up openEyA

Plugin (connect) your Digital Camera into one of the USB slots of your computer and switch it on (it is advisable to use an AC Power Adapter in case you wish to record for several hours). Also, check that any Camera Sound is Mute.

 
   Note: openEyA uses the command gphoto2 for image capture. To check
     which Digital Cameras are supported visit the website www.gphoto.org 

If you are also using an external (USB) Microphone and an external USB Webcam, connect them first directly to the computer (see section Requirements).

4.1 Unmount Digital Camera

Immediately after plugin the Digital Camera into the computer, a Desktop icon may apper as in Fig.2, which indicates that the Digital Camera has been mounted by the system.

To use openEyA it is always necessary to unmount the Camera! To do this, if the above icon appears on your Desktop, right click in the Camera Desktop icon and select

 
  Unmount Volume

The Digital Camera icon should then disappear from the Desktop. Do not insert/use the Memory Card!

4.2 Launching openEyA

Execute the openEyA automated recording program by double clicking the openEyA Desktop icon.
